CCCC for Everyone, Even If You’re Not Attending!

There’s something for everyone this week, whether you’re coming to CCCC or not! We’re working hard to make CCCC a great experience for those who are attending and for those who want to follow along on-line. Here are the plans:

Not Traveling to CCCC?

We’re excited to announce that Karin Evans, Marisa Klages, J. Elizabeth Clark, Jeannie Irene Waller and Beth Wheeler will be blogging basic writing sessions at CCCC. Later today, we’ll “introduce the bloggers” here at the CBW blog. Follow along all during CCCC on the CBW Facebook Page and right here on the CBW blog.

Want more than blogging? No problem! On Saturday, 24 March 2012, we’ll have a special LIVE EVENT to continue our discussions about the state of Basic Writing:

Continue hanging out with us LIVE at CCCCs. The roundtable “There’s Nothing Basic about Basic Writing” will be on Saturday, March 24, 2012, from 12:30-1:45pm (CDT). If you are at CCCCs, please join us in the Renaissance Hotel, Landmark Ballroom, Salon 2, Lobby Level. Hi CBW comrades–

Because there seems to be substantial overlap among your group’s membership and the Labor Caucus, and because our groups have what seem like a great many common interests, I hope it’s OK to leave this invite for your CCCC attendees, especially people with active memberships in NCTE/CCCC, here (and on your FB page).

The Labor Caucus, in conjunction with the Committee on Part-Time, Adjunct, or Contingent Labor, has put forward a resolution to be taken up as New Business at the Sat morning Business Meeting. In short, the resolution calls on CCCC to administer a Contingent Faculty Travel Fund, which would be supported by voluntary contributions from CCCC members (we’re asking CCCC simply to add a line to the membership form and conference registration form on which people can add extra $ that goes to the fund). I’m pasting in the link to the Google Doc that has the current text of the resolution; the language might undergo minor changes after I meet with the CCCC Resolutions Committee on Thursday afternoon, but this is the guts of it.

I’m expecting some resistance to this resolution. I’m asking for CBW’s support because BW faculty stand to benefit significantly from it.

Feel free to send/ask questions if you have them; I’ll be checking my mail at least semi-regularly Tues/Wed/Thurs of this week. Probably easiest to get me .
